It would be fair to say that the musician who has been the greatest influence on me is the great Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt
One of the most mythologised figures in the history of jazz, there is much disinformation, speculation, half-truth and just plain wrong things written about Django. What we can be certain of is that he made some of the most extraordinary music of the twentieth century, and all this from an apparently musically illiterate Gypsy who had suffered a dreadful accident which left him with only a partially useable left hand.
